The Mid-Session Reset When You’ve Lost the Thread
A 20-second script to re-contract the hour without an apology spiral.

You will lose the thread. The failure is the apology tour. Interrupt yourself the way you reflect: name it, re-contract, move.
The 20-Second Script
“I notice we’ve left today’s contract. The hour was for [X]. Do we park this and return, or re-contract the remaining minutes to [Y]?”
Then shut up. They pick. You write the new sentence. Check it against progress so you don’t invent a third goal. This is not a discovery restart. It’s a mid-hour edit.
If the spiral is happening on text, that’s a comms policy miss, not a session skill.
How to Deliver It
Say it while you still like them. Hand up, not a speech. If they pick Y, Y is the contract. No “and also X.”
Where Coaches Break
- “Sorry, I’m all over the place.” Now the hour is about your shame.
- Resetting every eight minutes. Then you never stay.
The 3-Minute Action
Write the script with a blank for X. Tape it where the camera can’t see it. Use it once this week on purpose.
